Why Do I Have More Upload Speed Than Download Phone

  • #1
My net package details minimum download speeds of 1mbps with maximum speeds of 2mbps. For some reason I have non been getting those speeds at all. Infact, I take been getting 1mbps UPLOAD speeds and 0.20-0.50mbps download speeds. Is there any reason my upload speeds would be so much higher than my download speeds? I've tried fiddling with my router by irresolute the DNS (to Google servers), changing the wifi channels, connecting straight to my router with an ethernet cable, etc. just nothing seems to be working. My Internet access provider sent me an electronic mail that their servers bear witness I am getting over 1.2mbps download speeds with a graph visually detailing the speeds, yet I accept not been getting that.

There is no one else connected to my router, I take checked several times, and I don't have whatever groundwork processes on my reckoner that would bear upon my speeds. At this signal I have no thought why my speeds are the way that they are. Anyone accept any clue what could be incorrect?

(It's the aforementioned on my mobile device as well).

See if you can infringe a router for testing purposes as I suspect that may exist the crusade.

And if it isn't, well at least you will have eliminated that, so some progress will have been made.

Accept you tried disconnecting your cellphone? They like doing background uploads and downloads.

There's the latest speed exam (0.52mbps down, ane.02mbps up). It'due south a wireless connectedness by the way.

That's messed up. Have you tried plugging directly into the router temporarily to cheque speeds? If wired runs at rated speed then can start working thru wireless troubleshooting.

As asked higher up, what kind of connectedness?

I tried directly plugging into the router, got the exact aforementioned speeds. There is the graph my Isp sent me, showing conspicuously I am getting over 1mbps net speeds. However, my actual connection speeds say much dissimilar.

Might try a new cable betwixt router and modem or effort plugging directly into modem and rechecking. bad cable would explicate why speed to the modem is showing faster than speed at the router.

Would say to update drivers but since both wired and wireless are both doing it probably wouldnt help.

I've checked my router status, I'm the only one connected. I've tried turning off all of my wifi enabled devices to make the speed test as accurate equally possible. I have WPA2-PSK password protection on my router.

I just double-checked my connection via an ethernet cable and funny enough it was much better, really met the minimum speed. So, I guess it may be just my router after all, any guesses what may exist wrong with it?

Cablevision to the modem or cable to the router? Cable to modem and then u have a bad connectedness between router and modem. Cable to router then you accept a wireless event.

It's cable to router, I figured I take a wireless effect, but not sure what that outcome is specifically.

Do you have a wireless bill of fare with external antennae? Disconnect/reconnect those.

Go to device managing director and see if the wireless is showing any errors.

Completely uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall latest from manufacturers website.

Afterward all that, go into the wireless settings and walk through each one to come across what options are.

I had the aforementioned trouble. I contacted my internet service provider and they sent refresh signal to my modem which fixed the consequence.
